Part 3

In a little town called Cambridge there are many colleges, professors and the like. Among these are cruel maths lecturers who each year subject ~200 young would-be mathematicians/physicists to a year of pain. This is Part 3.
To outsiders it is known as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics. It is essesntially a thought masters course (although you can do an essay instead of 1 exam). It is also very very very hard. Upon completion of the course they will even write you a letter to this extent. I hope to get this letter: “Evan passed Part 3, which is very very difficult to do.”
After the exams one is graded accordingly – Fail, Pass, Merit & Distinction. The level required for a Merit is apparently equivalent to a First Class Honours. The distinction is higher than this so.
There are ~80 courses that one can choose from – about 40 each in “Pure” and “Applied” Maths (broadly interpreted). These include weird and wonderful courses such as string theory, supergravity and the fluid dynamics of swimming organisms to name a few.
