I find this blog to be very well written and interesting and read it everytime I see a tweet (click here to follow said tweets) that there is a new post. So I thought I would recommend it! If you are curious about languages this, and the other language blogs might be of interest to you. If you click the pop-down menu to the top right of the page (at least that is where it is for me, right at this moment, on Chrome) you will see there are many others. Enjoy!

Ok, I said before that I don’t update this blog at a satisfactory rate, due to (amongst other things) preferring to use Twitter. Well, I’ve just added a feed (look, it’s on the side) of my last few tweets. It seems to not update immediately but is not too much off. Animated GIFs

I today found that making animated GIFs with a large number of frames (actually not even that large!) can be very slow, when done the standard way, i.e. using Image Magick’s convert. I’m talking about something like this:

convert -delay $delay *.gif animation.gif

Does anybody know why it uses so much memory? I would be interested to know. Anyway, one solution I have found is to use a nifty tool called gifsicle. It works straight away (configure, make, make install, you just need a C compiler), and is super fast, and performs the same task as above in no time, like:

gifsicle –delay=$delay *.gif > animation.gif

Maybe somebody else will find that useful.

The Ritual of Tea

Kettle finished boiling, instantly scorch the tea bag, as quickly as possible squeeze the life of the bag. If the tea bag squeaks a bit that is okay. The water must be blackened in a flash so the tea bag can be quickly discarded. Then milk and drink it straight away. Nice and hot. A bit too hot is just right.

When I get an email saying I have a comment to moderate I have a peek at my blog stats. It is nice to see that some people actually stumble across my somewhat rubbish and random blog! I can’t say I have plans to re-start updating it in any substantial way. I have also somewhat withdrawn from facebook. This is basically because, I have this twitter bug! Do you tweet? It’s fun.
