The slides for my talk on RRATs is now available on the Estrela Workshop website here. I don’t think it is stated in the talk but RRATs stands for Rotating RAdio Transients.
Does anyone out there know if nerves go away after you have given x amount of talks? Also what is the value of x?

Your slides are great! I bursted into laughter when I saw the “So What Are They??” slide! By the way what does this have to do with “hairy japanese”?

hi mars,
glad you liked slides!
the quick answer to your question is that “hairy japanese …” has nothing to do with the RRATs!
the long answer is that it is a reference to a quote from a famous Irish TV show called Father Ted (about 3 priests living on a remote island off the west coast – it is very funny). In one of the episodes (if i remember correctly) the priests’ house gets infested with rabbits! one of the priests (the old one with questionable eyesight) mistakes the rabbits for “hairy japanese rats*”
